Assessing community awareness on legal aspects & access to safe abortion services in two selected blocks of Maharashtra: A follow-up evaluation study, 2012, Ipas Development Foundation

Brief about the project: IPAS India with state government of Maharashtra made intervention for improving the knowledge, attitude and practice related to abortion and care seeking behavior among the rural population. The follow-up evaluation was undertaken to understand the efficacy of the BCC intervention in terms of communication reach, message recall, relevance and relative strength of message penetration and to examine associations between BCC exposures and knowledge, awareness and utilization of services. The follow up evaluation covered, currently married women (age 15-49 years and their spouse), who are not using any permanent method of contraception (female and male sterilization) for more than 3 years (36 months) prior to the survey. The follow-up study covered a sample size of total of 766 sample respondents i.e., total 383 eligible women each from intervention and control sites.
