Endline and Baseline Evaluation of Fortification of Mid-Day Meal Programme in Varanasi, UNWFP, 2020-18

Mid-day meal (MDM) is one of the world’s largest key interventions by the Government of India to improve the nutritional status of school going children in classes I to VIII across all government schools by providing hot cooked meals to the school children. The MDM programme further aims to enhance enrolment, retention and attendance of the school children by providing MDM during school hours. CMS as an evaluation partner conducted both baseline and endline evaluation in 2018 and 2020 respectively. The endline round provided not only an evaluation of performance by doing a comparative analysis with the benchmarks but also the cost-effectiveness as well as the operational-feasibility and scalability analysis.
