Baseline Study of Socio-economic Status of Mahadalits in Bihar, 2009-10, UNICEF Bihar

Brief about the project:The study was undertaken to assess the socio-economic status of Mahadalits in Bihar. The study assessed the socio-economic indicators including the nutritional status of children of the targeted population. The study was first of its kind of the study undertaken with a large sample size of 12000 households spread across 10 districts from different administrative divisions of the state. In addition to this qualitative tools such as FGDs and IDIs were used to gather information from Mahadalit community. Anthropometric measurement for capturing the nutritional status of children as well as iodine test kit was used to measure the level of iodine in the salt used by the surveyed households.
