CMS-Media Fellowship for Reporting on Energy Efficient Building Program

Call Of Applications:

Centre for Media Studies (CMS) invites journalists to apply for a three-month fellowship program to write on various aspects of energy efficient buildings. The fellowship is open for the journalists working in print, electronic and digital media.

About the Fellowship program:

The objective of the fellowship is to ensure effective communication through media reporting and create general awareness among masses about conservation of energy in construction of housing and commercial buildings.

The fellowship will be awarded under the Building Energy Efficiency project (BEEP) project.

  • A total of 6 journalists will be selected for the program from all over the country.
  • The fellowship period will be for four months, from March to June 2020.
  • The selected journalists will be expected to produce three research-based stories in four months about the importance of reducing the consumption of energy in construction of buildings and related aspects in print, Radio, TV and online medium.
  • A grant of Rs. 75,000 will be given to all the selected fellows.

Eligibility to Apply

  • Journalists having 3-5 years of experience in Journalism. Those writing on environment, climate change, real estate, power, urban development and energy are encouraged to apply.
  • Media persons from print, digital and electronic media are eligible to apply
  • Freelancers are also eligible to apply provided they fulfil all other conditions and mention the names of the publications where they would like to publish their fellowship stories.

How to Apply

  • A proposal outlining innovative, in- depth story -ideas with CV (containing information about working experience, educational qualifications, Name of the organisation, etc)
  • Three clippings or links of the published /broadcast stories in print, electronic or digital platform.
  • The subject line of your email should read: APPLICANT’s FULL NAME Application CMS Media Fellowship for Reporting on Energy Efficiency in Buildings
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be notified via email.
  • Applicants must submit above items to mediaapplications@cmsindia.org on or before by March 01, 2020.

Selection Procedure

A three members jury, comprising of media and subject experts will select the fellows. Candidates with valid qualification, writing experience (articles/features etc.) and technical understanding about the issue will be selected. The shortlisted candidates can be called for interviews, if required.

About BEEP

The Indo-Swiss Building Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP) is a bilateral cooperation project between the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), of the Swiss Confederation and the Ministry of Power (MoP), Government of India. The implementation agencies of the project are Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on behalf of the MoP while the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is in chargee on behalf of the FDFA. Started in 2011, the project’s central focus is to help India mainstream energy-efficient and thermally comfortable (EETC) building design for both commercial and residential buildings. BEEP works with building industry, policy makers, and building owners to catalyse adoption of EETC building design and technologies.

Media Engagement Program on Energy Efficient Buildings

 

Centre for Media Studies (CMS) in collaboration Building Energy Efficiency Project of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, GoI and Federal department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss confederation) will soon be launching a media capacity building program on energy efficiency under the BEEP project with a special focus on energy efficient buildings. A series of media workshops and a fellowship programme on building energy efficiency will be organised in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhara Pradesh and National Capital Delhi during 2019-2020.

 

The objective of the programme is to trigger sustained interest in energy conservation among public through the qualitative reporting by the media persons.

The workshop and fellowship programme will ensure understanding of the information regarding importance of professionally adapted energy efficient and thermally comfortable buildings and will build the capacity of media persons to write well informed stories, which can create awareness among general public as well among policy makers.
